Went into town to the parts house and when I left it was almost 9pm, the main drag was alive and I have my new power puck....yes, I felt unbeatable, yes, I know the puck on a stock engine is not a can of Popeyes' spinach.

So I cruise the strip back and forth, on and on. Saw a Mustang, could not get beside him and after about an hour I got board, maybe tired(getting old) and thought it was time to go home.

I got off this little side street to bypass the main intersection to get on the road to home. As I sit at a stop light to turn and get on the road home I see an older 67'-68' chevy 2wd long bed behind me. You can hear it rumble. Anyhow, I get out on the two lane, thru town we go just doing the speed limit. We start to get up where it turns to 55mph and he starts shooting up behing me and such. So I leave it in 4th and around 1800-1900 rpm and when we hit the 55 sign I dropped the hammer and left him pretty quick. I hit 5th and he was still behind me, look down and we are now doing XX almost XXX and I check my mirror and he is slowly walking up along side of me. I looked ahead and it was clear but decided it was time to ease off a bit. By the time I thought all that through he was up near the front of my truck so I backed off and he went on by.

Yeah, I got killed. But as I thought about it some more and came to the conclusion that his little truck maybe weighed 4000#'s and mine tips the scales just shy of 7000. He was running a 350 small block and an automatic and it was not stock. So I think my barely over stock truck did good. I guess it would have made him feel bad if I was able to stop and talk with him and tell him my nearly stock, 7000# truck gave him a run for the money. That's alright, next on the list, fuel upgrade, 100 edge nozzles and clutch and back into town to look for that orange and white chevy......
