Got first oil analysis

Not sure how it is, they say it is ok? A few things seem to be off from regular averages. Just wondering if anything looks abnormal? Truck has 80,000 miles on it. 6,000 miles/8 months on Amsoil 10W40 with fleetguard stratapore filter. If I went any longer I would of had to add some oil, because it does drop a bit after 6,000 miles, but I think it's normal to use a bit of oil? I took the sample after the truck was off for about 30 mins, and did it while draining the oil, about midway drained, just incase that might change anything?

My plan is to go a bit longer say 7,000 miles and as long as a sample says ok just leave it at that. Would anything be wrong with that? The analysis costs $35 so i'd much rather spend the money on oil and filters. I still plan to maybe get it done every 4-5 changes though.

Are you sure that is the Amsoil 10W40? It looks like one of the CJ4 diesel oils from Amsoil, with the lower Calcium and ZDDP...
Their 10W40 AMO is a higher ZDDP formulation and would have upwards of 3000 to 4000 PPM of Calcium. TBN is lower than one of the CI4+ Amsoil choices would show as well after that mileage. But that could be relative to the type of mileage you do.
Report looks good, though. I would stick with the routine you have now.

It looks like your iron wear is above universal averages of around 21.

Looks good. For reference to the oil type, I've run the Amsoil 15w-40 HD Diesel and Marine oil in an 01' Excursion w/ a 7.3 for the past 2 years. It see's about 12k miles each year. When the analysis has come back, both times it has listed the Calcium as 38xx each time, and the TBN as 8.4 and 9.2. Both of those sample were taken between about 72k and 97k miles, and it saw a lot of short drive, high idling, cold morning's dropping kid's off to school.

I am 99% sure it was 10W40. I will have to look at the old oil containers cannot find my receipt right now. But now that I think about it I do think I switched to 5W40 the last few times and forgot and got 10W40 again My truck does a lot of short trips and idling (always 1100rpm). If i'm only going to be someplace for like 10 mins I always leave it run. But I doubt it should do anything to the oil. But nearly all of this change was stop and go city driving, many short trips were the truck didn't reach operating temperature.

One thing that worried me is the 1 silver, when it should be 0?

The lab that did the actual analysis is called Polaris labs, they are the best in the business. I use them exclusively. You should fill out all the info for your truck, each time you send them an oil sample for your truck they marry the previous sample report together with the current report. It is a very handy tool to compare samples and see what is going on with your engine. If you are going to only go 7k miles on your service intervals then I think you are wasting you money on synthetic oil. What they said in the comments about resample at the next interval, this means continue to run the oil the same mileage as you just did. Essentially doubling your service interval. A Zero severity report is the best you can get. I would double what ever your current change interval is then change the oil and resample from there.

My samples cost me around $20 bucks. I have never used the other vendor.

That is good to hear it is a good report. I did fill out all the information, not sure what happened, but will make sure for next time. I don't put a ton of miles on, the longest I could go is maybe 10,000 miles before I hit the year mark. And like I said the truck sees a lot of idling and short trips so i'm not sure if I should try to go as long anyways. I use synthetic a large part for the ease of winter starting as it gets very cold here and the truck likes the synthetic in the winter. I am also going to go to the Amsoil filter, as I don't think the fleetguard is reccomend for extended intervals?
