Got it all together and made some hooks...

After much work and waiting, we got to make a few hooks this past week/weekend.

We got it finished up Thursday, and they let us pull exhibition at the county fair "big boy" pull that night. Somehow, the air shut off got tripped twice in a row. This lead to the ring and pinion getting trashed. Vids are coming on that one.

Luckily, we had spare 3rd member and got it fixed for Saturday. Made a couple passes at Leon, IA. Matt had a pretty smooth run in the 8000# and went 397'.

I pulled the 8500# and found a rough spot. Ended up 299'.

Somewhere along there we torqued the wheels studs on the rear wheels. Kind of hard to see in the pics, but all the studs are angled now.

On top of that, after my pull the motor dies, stuck a plunger.

Just gettin' the bugs worked out.

wow that things a runner! I wonder if its the 1/2" studs that are the problem? thats pretty crazy, can't say i've seen that before, you must really have some torque and really getting some bite on the track.

Well, turns out they were 1/2" studs in the back. They are 9/16" now. Got a pump back on it, too.

Went and tested it last night. The track was pretty much crap, but it seemed to run good. Read to go for Sunday.

Well finally got the video's from the Onawa pull. Is not much to look at, but there was a lot of breakage in the short time. 1 ring&pinion, 1 bent hitch, and 16 bent lug studs.

1st try.

2nd try.
