gooseneck on a short bed?

I'm selling my '97 today and am now on the hunt for a new truck.

I was toying with the idea of a short bed, but if I ever get a fifth wheel trailer, I will install a gooseneck ball and use the 5th wheel adapter. Has anybody used a setup like this on a short bed? What about towing a regular gooseneck trailer?

Suggestions?

i have hauled it all with my 04 SB from my flatbed to our 5th wheel and have never had any issues. if you know how to pull you will be fine. i have 5th wheel rails in the truck and have used the 5th wheel a few times but now i have a goose neck adapter on the camper so i don't have to keep changing it back and forth. the people that had it before me didn't know hom to drive it so well and the put a little dint in the driver side rear above the corner of the rear window. you will be fine and if you want they sell a offset adapter that will put the camper a bit further back, it will set you back a few hundred.
