i was wondering if anyone has a pair or bfg mud t/a. i have a set of goodyear mtrs on my jeep and they lasted me about 30-35 thousand miles, and im wondering if anyone has a pair of bfg mud t/a's and a average mileage on them. I just bought a 07 megacab and wanna put some nice tires on it im just wondering which one gives me better mileage.

Personally, neither of them, both have been around a long time, seems to 1998 to me. Get some toyos, nittos, or dickcepeks on 20" rims. It would look pimpin on a mega cab

But if I had to chose, it would be the bfgs

I have bfg mud tires and have 31k on them and wouldnt buy anything else. Before i bought mine i had a buddy put some on his truck after running 2 sets of the bfg at's and he said they rode better and made very little noise. After some deep thought and 3 sets of bfg at's myself i went and bought some. I will say i will never have the at's again, it will always be the mud for me. Call us crazy but they ride better, make very little noise and last a long time. I have 31k on mine and i could get another 15 out of them and thats better for me than the at's. I might've gotten more milage out of them but with ongoing front end probs i am happy to get what i have. He got 62k out of his.

i have mtrs now and i think they have better traction but they dont last as long, i always ran bfgs but they suck worse in the ice than mtrs.lol

I had Goodyear MTR's on my Powerstroke, and I didnt like them. They were loud and rode bad, I think. They are a cool looking tire, but I think the Mud Terrain is better

I had MTRs as well..but on my cummins. I agree...loud and didn't ride well.

i got 65000km on my last set of BFG MT with my mods. I personally think that the MTR is to soft and dont wear well on heavy trucks. I have procomp Xtreme AT's now with 15000km and they show minimal wear at all. just some thought

MTR's are not a good tire at all. They ware like crap and arnt designed to be used on heavy diesel trucks. The BFG MT's are old school in my book and not siped. The BFG AT's are a good AT and ware nice but if you want the look of a MT then why dont you look into a 21century tire like the Toyo MT.

\Yeah the're $$$ but they ride and ware soooo nice. Yeah I guess there quiet...I cant hear them over the cummins. There's a few other good Diesel truck specific MT's out there

I've had MTR's on 2 other trucks and found they really suck on wet, snowy, and icy roads. There was no siping at all on the ones I had. They did great off-road in deeper stuff, but were pretty sketchy on slick roads.

I had the tire dealer sipe my new Toyo M/T's before putting them on and what a difference it made! MUCH better traction than the stock tires...even on slick roads where you would expect an A/T to out perform an M/T.

EDIT TO ADD: The Toyo M/T's are also MUCH quieter than the MTR's on my previous trucks. I can not hear them at all on the highway, even with the radio off.

I like the TOYO's and the MT MTZ's. The MTZ are soft though. Don't know how long they would last. BFG MT's are great long lasting tires but they do suck on the ice.

i live in south texas i dont dont even drive on ice i think the lowest it gets here is about 35 degrees i need a tire that will give me good mileage and be good in the mud also but get that agressive look as well. anyone have the average mileage on those toyo M/Ts?

I Bought A Set Of Cooper Atr's And Like Them Alot. Good Milage So Far With Approx. 12000 Miles . As For Milage Several Dealers That I Asked All Said The Coopers Would Outlast The Toyos And Were Less $$$!

I run the LT285/70R17 Cooper Discoverer STT's.

They're slightly larger than stock, won't completely kill your fuel economy, and are rated at 3,195 lbs carrying capacity @ 65 psi.

Mine ride great.....we have a road force balancer at the S&S Tire where I work, and the most road force any one tire had on my truck was 14 lbs.
