is this a good deal?

im just in the early stages of thinking about it....but i was thinking of a reg cab 2wd 12 valve for my back and forth to work truck. if im not mistaken. 20-22 mpg plus i could save the miles and all that off my 05. not to mention (the 05)its a magnet to get broken into and i have to park in a garage so its kinda snug. anyway, i found this and was considering it.

http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/car/346031556.html

89 250. reg cab, 2wd, 100K miles, auto, non working ac. $3600 is that worth the money?

if so, what all should i look at when i check it out? i know i read the front ends went on the 2wds. i REALLY dont want a money pit, i ve already got one of those (its called a jeep! ). just something to drive back and forth to work and be able to use for work (to haul a ladder and my tools around, occasionally the trailers if neccessary, etc.)

thoughts?

I am curious too, y??

20-22MPG with a 89-91.5 with an auto is about a pipe dream. Its only a 3 speed. I would buy it for 3500 sure. But if your looking for more MPG, look for a 5 speed.

I only saw 21mpg once, that was on higway with cruise set at 60-65, before ANY mods at all. Now Im lucky for 17...of course I cant keep off the skinny pedal and under 75. If its not too far over 100k, Id go for it though.

to me that truck looks like its been rode hard and put away wet maybe its just me I don't really like 2 wheel drive trucks .If I was going to buy it I would go over it with a fine tooth comb and check and double check everything .

That one's not going to get 20 mpg running 70 mph.

Price seems fair to me.

I have an 89 w350 auto and the best that I have seen so far is around 16-18 depending on the traffic, hills and not to mention the skinny pedal. I am in the process of getting a OD trans as we speek. I love my truck but if your after better fuel mileage I would either get a stick or a 91.5-newer 1st gen.

I know guys who have gotten in the lower 20s with 3spd autos (and yes, you CAN trust their math). I have seen mid 20s with a 2wd SRW. Keep in mind that the 3 spd auto came with 3.07 gears, so the RPMs will be about the same as a set of 4.10s with OD on the hwy.

If you're after MPGs, it's really a crapshoot. Some trucks you'd think would suck the fuel (4x4 dually) get over 20: others Ive seen never see anywhere near 20.

only 100k on it? I paid almost $7000 for my truck, and it had over 250,000 miles when I bought it. This was not even a dealership purchase. It's Ok though b/c I have paid $0 in repairs.

I got a regular 23mpg with my 89' 4x4 auto. That was 60 mph cruise. Max speed stock was 68mph and it took forever to get there. After pump play I could get to 83mph.
