Goin' for another car...

Well my friend, and Neighbor, just got a solid project 63 Impala 2dr for $200!! So he came over to ask if we could use my crewcab to go get it. I said no problem of course! So it will be a 3 hour+ drive one way, then load it up and head back. We leave tomorrow morning, but I have a graveyard shift tonight.... So I'll get home around 3-4am, grab a couple hours sleep and then get going again. Should be a great day regardless.

Will take lots of pics, but will post them up after a nap or three.....

Thats a steal for shure, it would scrap out for more than that.

i have had two 64's and a 67 capric, there is alot of steel in those old girls.

i use to take the hood off my 57 by my self, buy removing the bolts and grabing it by the bullets and resting it on my knees and picking it up.

the first time i tried that with a 64 i couldn't budge it, hell i couldn't reach across it.

don't forget the pics.

Well the trip went great! Weather was super, maybe 20*C (70*F) at the hottest. Trip up and down was about 420 miles, and I only burned about 17 Gallons of fuel!! We left at 8:30am and got back around 7:45pm.

Anyone who's driven BC Hwys knows the big mountains you have to cross, over 4100 feet and lots of 8-11% grades. The truck did super, sure glad I had the Pyro gauge though. I have a Post turbo set-up, and on a couple pulls I was 950-1000*, so about 1200-1300 at the manifold. Figured out pretty quick if I dropped a gear and slowed down the temp would drop fast and hold at about 800* (1100 at manifold). So most of the big pulls I did at about 35-40 MPH.

Here are a few pics as promised.

He's done a lot of work to the car since then, 350/4spd now, replaced the rear quarter, car sprayed in a dark primer, and a ton of other upgrades. Nice cruising and looking car now.
