goerend v.s. suncoast

I don't know the answer to your question.
But I do know that I was looking into DTT converters.
A nice group of people, herd they got them in 800+ hp trucks.
Personally I'd buy off a smaller guy anyday than a giant.

well i know that suncoast is on a lot of trucks that are going faster than 9.90's in the 1/4 mile so they deff hold up to alot of power, its really personal preference but if you go with goerends, dtt,or suncoast im sure you will be happy with the money you spent.

yah suncoast makes a converter for whatever you want. im in the same boat as you except i don't have injectors, and i can do the same when i lock my converter. you might be surpised at how much power your actually making. i made 256 with just a 0 plate full forward but my tranny was slipping and my filter was beyond dirty, i changed the fuel filter and had it timed and it runs real strong, i want to dyno it again but it slips too much to dyno, but im sure i would dyno at 300 now probably more like 330. i'll find out in the summer when i have a fully redone suncoast or dtt tranny in my truck.

FWIW from a stick guy...
Suncoast seems to be big with the race guys. A lot of hauler/working guys seem to run DTT. Goerends are fairly popular on here with the daily drivers.
Not that they are not good for other stuff by any means, just something I have kind of noticed. I bet you would be happy with any of them.

I hat to be a party pooper but just a converter will not solve your problems. I think any of them is a good start but if all you do is the converter now , In a year or so you will be doing the whole trans and need another converter too. If you had done a converter and increased your line pressure before you had slipping then you would probably be fine but since it has already been slipping there is particals from your lock up clutch already doing damage to your trans. I have a full goerend brothers trans. and I like it. I have the tripple disc converter so I can't say how his single discs are but he is great to deal with. He gives a liftime garantee on the tripple and does not on the single disc. Before you go and do anything I would call him and talk to him one on one and see what he says about doing just the TC. It won't cost but a phone call and will probably save you a lot of grief.

I have Goerend parts in my diy rebuild and couldn't be happier. Dave helped and checked up on me like I was using his complete tranny. I told him I wanted to end up at 350 Hp and tow, he said a single would work but did recommend going with the triple for peace of mind. I would suggest the same to you, you won't be sorry. Personally if someone tries to sell me with claims at the upper limits of their product I shy away. As stated above you will have to do the valve body aswell.

It's not all about the product, you also have to look at customer service. I have one of Daves triple convertors, and trans, awsome piece. But his customer service is the BEST in the industy. It' seems that most companys don't even know what customer service is anymore.

the trans in the truck has 7k on the trans. it was built with extra hd clutch packs, and a "custom converter for the power", and also a transgo shift kit in it. the line pressure is set at 95 psi idle.

+1 for Goerend.
Went with a different supplier for the tc and vb on my new tranny. Defective TC and would not stand behind it. Dave's customer service on the new build has been outstanding. Wish i had used him first. I won't make that mistake again. I have heard very similar stories about great service with Suncoast. Either way you should be well taken care of.
