Goerend Tranny on its way...
After doing my research I decided to go with a Dave Goerend heavy duty transmission with billet input shaft, torque converter and a flex plate weld in insert. Has anyone used the insert and how do they hold up....I will be welding mine in myself....

You will love the transmission. It will make all the difference, and you will finally know what its like to put your power on the ground! I am still on a stock transmission, but i have Goerends triple disc converter, Valve body, billet input, and suncoast flexplate.
Im not sure exactly what the weld in insert is, but I would assume it is the cutout part of the flexplate that they weld in to make a laminated plate? Im sure it shouldnt be a problem, and should hold up fine. Just make sure it is lined up perfect, and welded good.
How much does he sell the insert for if you dont mind me asking? I have an extra flexplate i could possibly do that to.

Thanks Eric, I can't wait, I have driven several trucks with aftermarket tranny's. Mostly ATS's and one DTT, I didnt' much care for the ATS, but the dtt was awesome....The flex plate is only $75.00 if you weld it in yourself or you can get one from Dave that is already welded in a flex plate for $275.00. I was wanting a billet flex plate but kinda ran out of money, so I decided to by it and have a machine shop here weld it in...

Congrats on the order!
I can't wait to get mine installed and finally not be afraid to accelerate hard. Are you getting it shipped to you or are you driving there to get your tranny R&R'ed?

Actually the price just went up, Mine was $3550.00 or atleast I hope it is still that, But then I added the billet input shaft and a flex plate insert that I will be welding in myself...so it ended up being around $4200.00 plust the core charge..I just tried to call them to get an idea of when it will be done, but they are hard to get ahold of sometimes cause there so busy...I hope it will be here by the end of next week..

All the ones Ive put in that were Daves ususally came within 10-14 days of order to Maryland. And yes they are hard to contact sometimes but TRUST me even with the wait it will be the best investment yet for your ride.

Wow, built autos are high, I knew I wanted a manual for a reason. That is 1/2 the value of lots of these trucks. I guess they hold their value - ie if you ever sell if you can swap a stock trans back in or sell it for more with the built one?

Congrats. I just checked their website, I guess their prices did go up. I had mine ordered when the price was $3550, so hopefully they stick to their quote (which I'm sure they will).

From what I have read from people, after they have a built auto it is unreal the difference it makes compared to a stock auto. I for one wanted an auto since they generally run faster times.
