Goerend tranny crapped out AGAIN
If anyone can get ahold of Dave, please have him call Dan 210-857-6845. I'm on my 3rd tranny.... long story... 1st one lost 3rd & OD.. had it replaced. That one left me stranded 200 miles away TWO weeks ago with a broken intermediate (billet), this one has been in the truck for only 4 days and now when you put it in drive, it locks the converter when I give it fuel and kills the truck. When I can get it going, it jumps in an out of gear and bogs down??? Need help asap.... my tranny with the broken intermediate is still in the crate in my garage!!!
This one has a 15 blade LC converter, the one that's broke in the crate has a 15 blade... can I switch out VB on these two and see if it fixes my problem????

Yah, but I'm tired of spending $$.... cost me $750 bucks 2 weeks ago to get it towed back home.... luckily this time, my dad had his flatbed at the ranch...
I changed VB, but couldn't get it started tonight... the gear selector switch wouldn't go back to park.... I took it off, manually moved the selector to park, then put the selector switch back in, and it still said N??? I'm going to pull it off again tomorrow in daylight, move the switch to 1st, then put the switch back in.. .maybe it will align up right then????? any suggestions?
I've got to get the truck running to go back and get my boat???? what a pain in the butt....

Dang man, so sorry to hear all this. Royally sucks. I killed 2 full rebuilds on on older 01 I had, sold it got my 06 and love my standard!! Got another 01...standard as well...too much money in those autos. Still sorry to hear, hope it gets all fixed and better than new really soon!

Yah, I'm not serious about the Prius... This truck has been awesome except for the tranny, and I don't abuse my truck at all... just 88mile a day commute.... but these auto trannies are worthless
I will consider a Challenger SRT8 though.....

Anyone have any suggestions?? I cant get the switch to read Park? I've tried pulling the switch and reinstalling it in each gear, but still the same.. no park and the N won't light up either???

Wow, we have installed probably a hundred of Dave's trannies or built trannies with his parts and never had the kind of problems that you are describing. Not to say it isn't possible, but its definitely odd.
I would try swapping the VB and leave a message for Dave, he has called me back on a sunday before.
What were you doing with it when the intermediate broke? Or when the converter died? You weren't driving down the highway on an 88 mile commute.

This is the first I recall of ever hearing a problem with a Goerend's tranny. I would try to get ahold of Dave first thing Monday and go from there. This coming from a very happy DTT built owner.

Let me say, my first tranny was awesome, and yes, it saw alot of track time.. don't really know what happened to that one...I think it lost a seal and messed up 3rd??
I was afraid to switch out VB with the broken intermediate, so I put the original VB back in, buttoned her up, took for test drive... worked fine for about 5 minutes, then would act like it was locking up sitting in drive not moving... I couldn't get moving in D,2.. I put in first... got it going.. built pressure, switched to 2, then drive..... now it works fine... I just talked with Dave... he said a valve might have not been able to close all the way, and building pressure in first like that might have knocked it loose.
As far as the intermediate break, yah, I was at the coast, just unhooked my boat, and was going about 10 mph when we heard a loud bang. My truck is not raced anymore, abused, nada... just a good run now and again when a ricer trys his luck...
