Cool Goerend Bros.

My new Goerend Bros. transmission arrived yesterday. Install on Monday! I can't wait to get rid of this POS torque converter! After that... MORE POWER!!!

I got the triple disc. Lifetime warranty. Suncoast flex plate, & billet input. They told me I wouldn't need the other shafts for what I'm doing. I have no intention of going over 400 RWHP. As this is my daily driver, & camper hauler. I may go for a II turbo, & possibly a Smarty. But that's it.

Good luck with the tranny. I am hoping to do the same over the winter. I think you will have more than 400hp when you are done adding toys. I have 400hp/780 with stock turbo and TST on 4x4.

Smarty and a good turbo I would think you would be past 400hp easy. Let us know what you think of the tranny once you have driven it. Does the Goerend TC use the % like the DTT TC (89% and 91%)?

Thanks, Jeff

Not real sure about how they rate thier T/C's. I hope there is some paper work in the box. I will definitly let everyone know how it does after mondays install. But I won't know for sure how I like it 'till I get my new camper. It arrives late September. I also have to see how squirly the truck is with the new trans, & T/C. It can be scary allready in the rain as it is. Right now I just can't wait to get it in, & find out.

Grab a smarty/bullydog/etc and you'll be over 400, pushing 5-550 easy with a turbo.

Yes, I think that you'll be over 400 HP. I gotta 325/600 and with the Smarty set at 90 HP with timing, I believe I'm close to 400. Think it was good that you also got the billet input and ATS flexplate for insurance (and future flexibility)
I just paid for my Goerand triple disc TC, input, ATS laminated flex plate, 2nd gear band strut thingy (not clear exactly what that is but heard that it was a good thing) and they are making me a valve body now. I'll post how things turn out, but I based my buying on reputation and service (and advice from some people on the boards here) and that's why I got Goerand stuff.

still loving my trans work that Goerend did. only problem is a slight glitch in the 2-3 shift under very light throttle and under 30mph (like rush hour traffic).

hoping someone finds a fix for this as i've heard it has happened on a few other trucks with different vendors.

I'm not sure how they rate the TC's either; what I can say is there is only a 100 rpm drop when the TC locks. Stock was like 400-450. That new TC from Goerend is TIGHT!

When running the Predator/Puc (Extreme)stack I run 430hp @ 864tq. looking for a good towing turbo now, considering HTB2, Welcome to the club, Goerend produces an awesome tranny. I think as long as your not sled pulling or racing you can still go higher then 400hp, but I'll leave that call to the experts..

Sixpack73,

I've heard that the reason that 05 and newer trucks sometimes have a gear hunting problem at light throttle is that they changed to a electric selenoid instead of a mechanical cable on the transmission for line pressure rise (or something)in 2005, Goerand is working on it, Les at Georand said that it might take removing the valve body and changing springs or something.
I saw this post on TDR that talks about this thing from DTT, a 'shift enhanser' (DTT's spelling) the guy that posted said it was worth 10 times the $275 cost. If you want (and don't have subscription to TDR) I'll pm you the post. Here's the TDR post http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...lems-read.html

The DTT product is here http://www.dieseltrans.com/dodge/whats_new.htm
It's supposed to be small and mounts externaly. Another person had a link back here to DTR and mentioned a TSB, it's here: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...=158710&page=2
I'm going to wait and see if it comes up in my transmission and then listen to what Dave Goerand says before I think about a possible non existant (for me) problem.

Dave used a stiffer spring in mine to hold the 2-3 shift a little longer. I don't have the 2-3 "cut loose" problem due to the stiffer spring, but it still doesn't really like to go 27-29mph under light throttle. It will downshift pretty aggressively around that speed if you're not still accelerating, but that doesn't really bother me at all. I kind of like how it helps to keep the RPM's up.

Yeah, I heard Dave Goerand is a perfectionist. I'm not worried about my upgrade at all!

Worried?...No.
Ecstatic?...YES!

You will be amazed at how good your truck drives with the new tranny!
