getting the codes from odometer?

Hi all..

I wanted to just check my code readings..if any..not having any major problems, but just looking for info.

Well, I have tried 3-4 times to get the codes to show up on the odometer of my 1999 2500 with automatic tranny, but no such luck. I turned the ignition on and off 3 times like instructed but nothing. I started the diesel then turned it off and tried the same thing, but this time holding the button down while on 'trip' mode...and again on 'total miles' setting...nothing worked for me. I tried it fast...normal speed (I guess) ..and s l o w. Nothing. Am I missing something?

Thanks for any help.

The "trick" doesn't work on the '99s....only 2000 and up.
We still have to pull codes with a 'reader'.
