Depends on how the power is used and applied. bgilbert has put over 1000lb-ft of torque through his, and it's still holding up. I know other guys who have broken them with stock power rather quickly.

I had mine cranked up for a good while and it never missed a lick. I was trying to pull a junk parts vehicle out of the dirt pile it settled in here while back and shot the power to the wheels and it went. Well not RIGHT there but 2 days later right in the middle of traffic. The damage was obviously from the truck pull. If they are tight I dont think a pump tweaked Cummins hurts em too bad.

Definitely a loaded question. IMHO, operator input has more to do with 'rag life than anything. With a mainshaft that weighs about as much as an entire t-5 in a camaro, you can only bang trough the gears like a scene from too fast too furious so many times before something comes apart. Pick and choose your battles with the 'rag and it will put up with a tremendous amount of abuse. Drive it like you're not making the payments and stock power will leave you hanging before too long. It is not a forgiving trans from that perspective.
