Getrag Parts and Clutch Recommendations needed
My 1992 W250's getrag just starting having bearing noises, so I'll likely be peeling it apart soon.
I've looked and searched, but I'm not sure where to get a rebuild kit. I've ordered a kit online for a mopar 4-speed, and got generic unmarked bearings, so I wasn't too pleased. Who's ordered a full kit? from where? and what bearings were in it?
Also, I'm looking for a clutch too while I'm in there, and there's tons of choices for that too, I would like to upgrade, but don't need anything crazy like ceramic pucks. This is for a daily driver type truck, with some car hauling thrown in for fun.

Call Peter at South Bend for a clutch. You won't be disappointed. I got my getrag parts through a local big truck parts house (fleet Pride) but there are lots of options on that end. While bearing quality is important, I believe setup of the Getrag is paramount. I used cheap bearings in my build and tried to pay close attention to the setup and it ran well at about 280rwhp for a long time.

If the motor is primarily stock the factory Sachs 13" clutch is a good one. Many will agree with me but my hole family have used them and we tow. Alot! Mine had 140k on it and the only reason I installed a new one is because the RB was so loud it drove me crazy. The clutch still had life on it. Just my opinion though. I think the money for a Luk or SB is a little much for a stock motor.

Yep, Zumbrota, Blumenthals or TBtrans will have good bearings in there kits.
What hp level are you at or whats your goal?
The stock Sachs will hold some good power.

Power levels are a little more than stock. So far the truck has an HX35 turbo, POD injectors, 3200 rpm governor spring, and a few minor pump adjustments. I might upgrade the fuel pin and add a HT3B turbo or something in the next year or two, so I'm probably needing a bit more than a stock clutch.

hey-Hey!!!,
I put a stock Luk HO clutch behind mine( PN in the sig ). New SB flywheel with a ball pilot bearing and am quite pleased with it. Light pedal and smooooth. Stock power level for that one was 245 hp and 600 lb.-ft; and with light mods I'll not exceed that by much if any.
cheers,
Douglas
