genosgarage straight pip...uh, inspection?

I just put a straight pipe on my truck from genos...i _love_ it. it is much louder than i expected but i'm likin it. however, now i have come to the realization that i need to get this truck inspected at the end of May. Any ideas on what this is going to do to me? I"m in Pennsylvania...thanks. and DOH!

I have not had any trouble getting mine inspected (NC) as long as you leave the cat alone I would think that you would be ok.

He put straight pipes so the cats gone...

If you didnt destroy your factory pipe from the turbo to the cat then put it back on for the inspection. If not, then youre pretty much SOL. You'll need to get a cat on there somehow

There is no cat on an 03 or an 04. Not till 04.5 were those included. But my 04.5 truck is "titled" as an 04 so how would they even know the difference unless they spent hours everyday reading and posting on a Cummins Diesel Truck forum like all of us......

question along the same lines, anyone know for sure exactly what year trucks came with cat & which ones didn't?? my brother recently bought a '97 & went to get it inspected, they said it was supposed to have a cat, & there was a pipe spliced in toward the front (where you would think a cat would be). also has metion of cat in the owners manual. I was under the impession only '04 & up trucks had them

That is only for 03' to early 04'. If the exhaust came with a cat it has to stay on even in texas, I already asked a guy at a muffler shop and he said he would put on a straight pipe, but it won't pass inspection any more.

ive had three trucks with straight pipes and never had any problem with inspection, and 02 ford and 04 ford had a cat.

I could be wrong but didn't California emmisions SO motors (03 & 04) have cats on them?

Along the same lines I believe there is a sticker under the hood that states what emmisions came on the vehcile and that is what emissions testing stations go by...therefore even though a 04.5 is titled as an 04, there is a sticker under the hood that states a cat was used (as well as anything else a vehicle was equiped with for emissions). Again though...it all depends on your states or provinces laws regarding emmisions and testing.

This is a little off topic but I was reading an article in the latest Diesel Power mag (Apr '06, pg 118) and it says the Cummins came with a cat in mid '94 thru '96 and that Calif. trucks got EGR in '96? Is that right?

I still have my muffler so I'll just throw it back on for inspection. I was hoping for answers somewhere along the line of "pennsylvania requires muffler for inspection or something like that" but I'll read between the lines, thanks.
