GENERATOR advice!!!!!

My Yamaha 2800i DIed on me after 5 years and will cost more to repair than the generator is worth. I am in the market for a new one. I have a Living Quarters Horse trailer with Micro and single roof air plus all the standard RV electic stuff. I was looking at propane generators such as the ETq 3000. ANy experience with these? Love the Hondas but not spending 1500-3000 for a generator. I was told by the repair shop that I need a 3000 Watt just to have some extra room. My 2800i worked but it was always maxed out. Thanks for the advice!

Awesome thanks! I just purchased a 4400 WATT Generator for the same price. Way cool! Who says you need a 2,000 Honda anyway!

I've heard a lot of good about the Kipor generators, basically a Honda, but with a lower price.

I have 2) 4kw. Onan Gensets and I like them much better than my Honda, although I use them for standby and occasionally on my truck to run my welder.

Both the Onan's are 1800-RPM opposed to the 3600-RPM Honda that I consider a throwaway.

One of the Onan's is an old 2-cylinder cast iron CCK and is build like my 1st. Gen. Cummins.

If you can afford an Onan or any 1800-RPM genset it will last forever.

Boliy has a 3300 watt 70lb genset, with DSP, similar to a Yamaha, but less.
About $1075 with electric start, also reasonably quit. They are on their 4th generation, the early ones were not as good.
The "Boliy Guy" will do 2 year warranty return freight if any problems come up.
They have been getting decent reviews laetly.
The good news about this unit is it is light enough to mave around as you wish or need to, and fairly compact in size.

Ok, I have a question. Are you all talking about the Gentron 3500. Or are you talking about a Kipor generator? Or are they the same?

I had a Generac generator and it was pretty good but it was loud. Could not use it with the camper. I didnt want .45 bullets buzzing by me when I slept coming from the other campers.

I noticed that the Gentron had a db rating of 67. Is that pretty good. Is it something that the other campers are going to not like.

I am getting ready to buy a new generator and I want something that is going to be "acceptable" at the Nascar track and not irritate the people close by.

I am going to go look at a Boliy at the importers shop in San Diego tomorrow. It's a 3000W 68lb Yamaha knock off from China. Guy said I could have a 4th Gen model for 950 if I pick it up.

If I get one, I will post here how it does for me.

Bought the Boliy 3600 today from a Chinese distributor in SD. Manual start 4th gen model. I had them unbox it, put oil and fuel in it. Started on 3rd/4th pull. Surprisingly quiet...similar to Yamaha/Honda.
Threw it in the back of the truck, brought it home and started on 1st pull. Ran it in the garage for an hour. Plugged in wife's 1375 blow drier. RPMs went up a bit. Didn't need to manually switch to higher output mode.
So far it seems like $950 well spent...will be boondocking Fri-Sun this weekend and will report more details. Knowing the repair/distributor was 20min drive away made me confident enough to pull the trigger.

The Boliy is 53-59 db. I suspect if you cranked up your AC, it may get to 59.
Seems like for the money, DB, watts and weight, it is tough to beat. It is still relatively unkown compared to Honda & Yamaha, but I suspect it will catch on.
It has DSP, which they do not have. I suspect they may change their units to compete with this, when it becomes more popular.
