Gearing up for tackling the front end this december.

Coming from california, I'm lucky enough to have good weather all year around and I'll have a few weeks off of down time. I decided to pick up moog springs (Part number 7226s), Monroe shocks (34832 and 34868). But here is where i come into a little trouble... I have searched the forums and read up on the ball joints and rotors but I'm a little confused. The upper threaded joint and lower press fit were listed around $50 at the time of purchase. I go back and look now and Kragen wants $100 a joint!(k7053t and k7082) I was under the impression i wanted the 4k rated joint and not the 3300 since everything i read recommended the monroe/moog springs. What ball joints do i need exaclty and where should i get them? I checked napa and all i could find was "napa" brand..... I also planned to replace my rotors & pads, and i was wondering if i should get the rotors from napa with the studs/bearings in them since i dont have a press or should i go for the bare rotor? I also hear people Talkin bout' ceramic pads vs semi metallic. I do some mild towing, horse trailers/hay and driving through Shasta, And recommendations?

Sorry for talkin ya'lls ear off, it's late, im sick and working night shift.

Also all these part numbers are off the the Kragen/o'riley website.

Thanks all, You guys n gals are life savers

My $0.02. Partstrain has Moog front end stuff. Not sure if they have the best prices, but I know they have it. I'd stick with them if you don't want OEM... (do they even have parts like this for our trucks anymore?) Personally I'd go with a bare rotor, and it wouldn't be from NAPA. Raybestos or Wagner would be my picks, unless Brembo happened to magically create a 6-piston caliper/rotor assembly that would fit. I think semi-metallic's are fine.

I got all my front end stuff from amazon. They were really cheap for the moog parts and had the lowest price that I could find. Also if you don't already have one invest in an air hammer,it makes the job so much easier and faster.

Napa Doesn't make their own rotors they just put their name on them. I've used napa rotors alot and i think they're great. had them on the last 91

There is a local mom and pop auto parts place near me that got me both uppers and both lowers in the moog brand for under 100 bucks. I have them in my truck now send me a pm if you want the info for the place I am sure they can ship them to you. I think amazon.com was the next cheapest when I looked at 285 IIRC.

I know I'll catch some flack for this but I'd turn the FACTORY rotors if they do not require being taken down near the minimum thickness over installing new chinese rotors.

I would turn my rotor's but somehow something got stuck between the pad and the rotor on the right side, and it went metal to metal on the rotor some how. Idk what happened lol. My only problem is i can get 25% off at kragen so i would be saving a pretty good deal.. I'm just wondering why the darn joints are 100 bucks!

Your truck would have the 4000lb ball joints. And go for the Moog brand name...no knock offs. I got one moog upper BJ off e-bay for under $25 and the other from Rockauto.com for around $40.

You should just get the rotor.
