Gear shifter ****...
Fellers -
I bet a lot of you guys have experienced this. My shift **** has turned clockwise darn near 90 degrees. It ain't no big thang, but its irk'n me.
I'm afraid some bozo might borrow it and think that's the way its supposed to be.
Before I just try to crank the whole *** counter-clockwise 90 degrees I wanted to see if you've guys had this happen and what you did. I can't tell if the center piece where the shift pattern emblem is, is a 2nd piece or what. Thanks.

Keep running it until it makes a full turn.
The pattern is a seperate piece. You can pry it out, put some Shoe Goo or something like that in there and pop the pattern back in.

Wannadiesel is correct...I just fixed mine. Looks like its one piece but its actually two. Take a couple of small screwdrivers and pry out the shift pattern. My shift **** was loose as well. Tightened it up with a 15 mm (I think) deep socket. Then, I put a dab of silicone RTV on the nut and set the shift pattern back into the ****.

I tried popping mine off when I did the clutch swap, to make removing rubber boot and all the plasitc underneath the shifter easier. All I did was scratch the helk outta the gear pattern "top" and said to helk w/ this. I think I'm gonna glue a Lone Star Beer cap on top of it and say the goodbye to those scratchces.

A Mack buldog, huh? That reminds me of a joke someone told me once when I used to drive an old R model rock haulin. Those offended by anything please don't read:
You know why they put the bulldog on the hood facin forward? So that 2 <edit> can stare at each other all day!
I replaced my shift **** after scratching it up trying to get the cap off, with a cue ball. Just drilled it out large enough to accept 2 metric nuts the correct size, smeared anti-seize on a bolt and threaded the nuts on, then epoxied it into the ball. After it sets up an hour or 2, take the bolt out. DONE!
That creamy white shift **** looks Uber-cool against my grey interior. Cost way less than a stock replacement, too.
