Gear shift ****

Does the gear shift **** come off on a 99' 5spd? If so how. I have tried twisting it but don't want to hurt the tranny. Want to install a hurst shift ****, is it possible or to your have to tap threads on it.

I believe it just screws on. Don't know how much force is required to get it off though. A good strap wrench might be useful if you have one.

The threads are 10x1.5

It just unthreads. The only hurst that will fit is the T-handle.

I'd look into some other *****.

It just threads off. I have the Hurst shifters on the gear shift and the four wheel drive shifter too. Got pics somewhere.

Maybe 99's are different, but on mine you have to pop out the button on the top of the **** and then remove a lock nut. The **** then screws off.

Yup. Very carefully pry the plug out with some small screwdrivers and use a 15 mm deep socket to loosen the nut and unscrew the ****.
