Competition Bypass Tuning Instructions
All GFS kits for 3rd gen trucks come with the bypass set for 22 psi. With the GFS Competition Systems we supply a bypass tuning kit. This kit consists of a heavier base spring (p/n 15) rated at 22 psi and a set of shims. Each shim set consists of 3 ea .040 brass shims and 2 ea .020 brass shim. The combination of the heavier base spring and the appropriate shims will allow pressures to the 40+ psi range. The number 15 base spring when used all alone will
provide 20-22 psi and the heavier base spring plus 3 of the .040 shims will provide about 42 psi. The .020 shims are used for small increases and fine tuning. When raising pressures above the 30 psi mark we recommend a billet fuel filter lid for the stock canister. Weve experienced no failures of the stock lid in the 30 psi range but its just good insurance. When changing to the heavier base spring you must ensure that all of the shims have been removed along with the softer number 12 spring. Shims are only to be placed in
the short cap end of the bypass. Failure to reassemble the bypass in the correct order can result in excessive fuel pressure.
