Cool Gauges

I'm doing the right and responsible thing here: I'm getting gauges before I get the programmer. It's certain that I'm going with a pyro and a boost gauge, but what about the trans temp gauge? I don't tow a lot as it is; and if I do it's a ski boat. Do you guys think it would be safe to skip the trans temp gauge? Or is it more worth my while just to get it so that I can keeps tabs on everything?

Also, these gauges are fairly expensive for what they are...what is a decent gage for decent price? I'm somewhat scared of the big monitors that are do-alls, I'd rather have the old school gauges on the pillar. Can anyone comment on the reliability of one of the monitoring systems over the long-run?

Thanks in advance.

I would agree on having "old school gauges" My gauges are tied into my banks chip and if it decides not to work then I lose my gauges. So I will also be getting some new ones soon. The guages are expensive but if you get a mechanical boost gauge instead of electric that will help. Also, you need a fuel pressure gauge (probably the most important). I wont tell you to get an electric or mechanical FP gauge, its all up to you and theres many debates on which one is better. However I have a mechanical gauge w/o the isolator and never had a problem with it.

Yes i 2nd that on the fuel pressure guage. Also since you are talkiing about a trans temp guage im guessing you have an auto? If not you dont need one. The boost guage is probably the least important of them. Its more of a fun guage i guess you could say. You can look around and find kits for a pretty good price that has everything you need.

As already mentioned, its absolutely essential to get a fuel pressure guage. It can save you from killing your injector pump.
