What gauges are needed.

I have a boost, pyro gauge to install and I am thinking about an oil pressure gauge to finish it out. With the fuel pump in the tank I am thinking that fuel pressure might be one that I will pass on for now. Any thought on this for th 04.5/05's?

I would go with Fuel pressure guage not as critical as on the 2nd gen but still is nice to have one for diagnostic capabilities

Although I hear the're not real acurate, I went with a tranny gauge for those long 6% grades hauling the TT.

In my humble opinion, boost and fuel pressure gauges should be standard equipment! You can see at a glance whether or not your engine is getting the air and fuel it needs. A little advance warning of a sticking wastegate or failing lift pump or clogging fuel filter will prevent a lot of inconvenience and maybe much more. I wonder how many injection pumps would have been saved by a simple fuel pressure gauge.

And the Trailer Tow Group should include an ATF temperature gauge!

As for a pyrometer, that sounds like it's mostly for bombers.

ditto the tranny and tow group comment, but I do think the Pyro has it's place for those doing a lot of towing.

Gauges

I have seen a lot of post that talk about the oil pressure gauge as not being the best that comes on these trucks. I do tow a 17,000lb trailer and do heavy grades up to 13%. The fuel pump that is on the 05 is not the same as the lift pump issues that plague the ones up to the 04 model. I am leaning towards a oil pressure gauge to go with my boost and egt gauges. I also got today a gauge mount that mounts in the dash under the Heater in the pod slot. Gauges are angled toward the driver to be seen easily. Auto Meter brand.

I am thinking of using that very guage mount. Please let us know how it goes.

Rain Man, I'm also planning on going with the Auto Meter in dash gauge mount; I'd also like to hear what you think of it
