gauges and wiring

Ok... say i wanted to run a new wire harness for just ign., starter, grid heaters and all new after market gauges and do away with all the dodge stuff. or maybe salvage using the dodge gauges and dodge comp. on a 97 dodge. what would be the best way to go about it?

Id look into an aftermarket universal harness. Ron Francis, Centec, etc. Ive used them for wiring up street rods, off road vehicles, etc. never had a problem with them. The only thing is the grid heater stuff you'll need to wire up yourself and then usually I make my own harness for my gauges and tie it into the main harness and what not.

Keep in mind, wiring is a chore and don't think you can crimp connect an entire harness together either! Solder the thing and use some good shrink tube. Patience is a virtue when wiring.

Hope this helps a little.

Have a good one.
