Gauge Install - I killed my Panel Lights!

Here is a weird one...

I installed the ISSPRO 3 gauge (pyro, trans, boost) from DieselManor this weekend and somehow I did something to the wiring. I connected to the orange-brown wire coming off of the light switch to supply power to the lights on the new gauges. Well, the new gauges don't light up and now I can't control the illumination of my instrument panel gauges. The instrument panel gauges and radio display dim when I turn on the headlights, but I can't control the brightness and when I turn the brightness switch all the up, the interior lights don't come one.

Any ideas? I checked any of the fuses that I could find and everything is fine there. Did I short something out? Is this illumination controlled by the body computer? Is this something that the dealer will need to scan to correct?

Any help appreciated...

Thanks.

Seth

You used the wrong wire. Sorry, I can't recall the correct color, but the instructions were WRONG.

I agree, use a test light to see what lights dim with the factory dash lights. I used the cigarette lighter for power, but I cant remember what wire I tapped for lighting, sorry.

You have the wrong orange wire. Don't quote me on this but isn't the orange wire with the black stripe? The wire is closet to the door? Good luck.

Could be a orange wire with brown or black stripe.
Mine was orange/brown tracer.
Looking from the back of the guage, bottom right wire.
Get out a test light and test it with the lights on, should get dim/brighten with the dimmer switch. If you dont have a test light, go get one, very handy.
From diesel manors site...

Like they said, '06 might be different colors, but should still be orange, might be orange/black

orange/brown

There are 2 orange/brown wires on the back of the switch, you need the other one.

OR/BR is the right wire re the '05 factory schematic - and the wire I tapped into for all 8 aftermarket gauges.

Why are you messing around tapping into wires. All you need is an add-a-circuit which adds a fused circuit to your fuse panel. Plug the add-a circuit into the dash light fuse and you the new wire to power your gauge lights. The dash light dimmer feature will also dim your guages.

There's nothing wrong with tapping the wire, just sounds like you have wrong one.

I used the 12V ignition that is supposed to be for power pedals (which I don't have) It appears to be the same one everyone is pointing to up top there. Take a deep breath, this is not a reason to take the truck to the dealer.
