Gas gage not working

Gas gauge not working 01 2500 CTD Qcab Shortbox, it works sometimes when down below 1/4 tank of fuel left but other wise just stays on empty. Anyone have any ideas.

Sending unit in the tank. check the connections on top of the tank for good connection and with the key in the on position check with a meter for voltage. No voltage bad unit. If you have voltage, check the same way but at the gauge. If the same voltage is there then it is the gauge. Oh yea, check all of your fuses first.

Level unit. About 45 bucks at the dealer and most stock it.....and yes, I lost count of how many I've done.

Yep same thing on a 12v. But you could do it like I did. Take it apart, its easy to do. Press out the pivot pin and drill out the housing and pivot arm (its plastic) to 1/8" ( have to hone the pivot arm w/ drill bit slightly) and use a piece of welding rod to make a new pin.
Mine was wobbly on the pin and would'nt make good contact.

This worked for me, not saying it will work on all. Sometimes the resistor array goes bad.

I wouldn't get too cocky because the sender's are known junk. I put in a new one in my truck and it worked for 1 day and then the same 'ole same 'ole. Now I just use my trip meter and ignore the gauge all together. I really hope you fixed it for good but I would still be leary of it.
