Garrett GT3782R or HTB2 62/71/14 ???

I am in the market for a new turbo. I pretty much have it narrowed down to these two turbos : Garrett stage 3 or HTB2 62/71/14

Does anyone know how well the exhaust section flows on the Garrett? I am going to add some DDP90 or 120 nozzles, Floor it stage 2, a shot of NOS ,and a new double disc clutch.

I was pretty much set on the HTB2 but have been hearing some good stuff about the Garrett. I would like decent spool up but mostly want the higher flowing exhaust to help on the top end with the NOS and keep the drive pressure to a minimum.

Comments or suggestions?? Thanks for the input!

artical in the last tdr... guy went from a 62/14 to a gt3788 made a bunch more power, flowed a ton more air, and spooled alot quicker...

i have this wierd feeling that there will be a gt3788 in my truck soon... sitting on top of a gt45!

I contacted HTT about their recommendations since they sell both. I will paste a piece out of the e-mail .

we would agree with the 62/71/14 since you are talking about NOS you
would
be better suited with our stainless housing since stainless holds up
better
than cast iron against the abuse of NOS, the Garrett stage 3 is
actually a
smaller turbo than ours and since it is a ball bearing turbo it is very

sensitive to oiling issues and is expensive to fix if something should
happen to it.

I later called them on the phone and told him of my concerns of the stainless housing not sealing at the waste gate. They assured me it is no longer a problem.

So now my new question is stainless vs. cast.... what would you do?

He was talking 3782...see title of post...not the 88...so it is smaller than the specs you have listed. I too would like to see the durability of the GT's under normal use....sooty oil etc. These are oiled not coolant, right. KS

my bad. the inital post says he is looking at the stage 3, not the stage 2 he has listed in the title, and since the 3788 flows more but spools faster i had assumed thats what he had ment.
also note: htt states that the stg3 is smaller... every one is refering to the stage 3 except the title of the thread...

my take on it: htt is recomending there own product due to them haveing more profit in it...... not because of actual hard fats and #'s..

Is the stage 3 a 3788? On Garretts website it lists it as a 3782. Is it a typo on their site? I am curious because I would really like the ball bearing turbo but I also need a lot of flow on the exhaust side for when I run NOS.

I popped around e-bay. The Garrett units seem quite a bit more expensive.

Well, i guess they listed it wrong on their website. I pasted that clip right off of turbobygarrett.com

It looks like it has a very similar surge line as stock down low which will help and should be able to run 45 psi efficiently, as long as drive pressures are low. I would love to see a compressor map of a HTB2 62/71/14 to compare it to. HTT sells both turbos, that is why I called them, trying to get an unbiased suggestion.
