FYI exhaust related
Just thought I would pass along some knowledge I've recently accumulated.
My muffler broke last fall, and rather than replace it right before winter, I straight-piped it with the original tailpipe and a piece of 4" purchased at NAPA for $20.
Well, I thought it was too loud that way and inquired about a muffler and tailpipe from NAPA a couple weeks ago. It was over $400 for the muffler and about $100 for the tailpipe. Rather than buy that muffler I got the tailpipe and went to Summit for the muffler.
I bought the Magnaflow 4"x36" for $123,(MPE-12773) figuring I could make modifications if necessary. It turned out to be a good fit as is, just needed to saw slots in the inlet so the clamp could squeeze it down. I put a good tack on the tailpipe with my mig welder once I got the outlet angled as before.
It sounds very good. A bit louder than stock, but nothing like the sound from the straight pipe. This muffler is much lighter than stock, but I'm going to add a hanger to make sure the system has enough support. HTH
