Smile Full throtle is 2200rpms

Hi guys
This is the first week since I did most of my maintance on my new to me Dodge ... I really don't know what the cummins is supose to drive like since this is the first one I have every drove ...I like it the truck has tons of power and very fast .
My question is I can stand into the pedel and the rpms will only go as high as 2250 and usually it will go into over drive around 60 .... and the rpms will drop to around 1600 ...then look out it starts to spool up and pulls like hell .

The truck dose have a very positve shift ... it's not a stock trans thats for sure , I really would never drive it like that , but I really wanted to get the feel of my new buddy ...LOL

It really feels like it's governed at 2250 or around there ... If I manually drop it down in gears it will rev up higher ...
I have know problem leaving it alone , I was thinking some may have set it up like this for the auto trans ... so you would not break to many parts .

Thanks guys
Greg

You can adjust the tv (throttle valve) cable!

Just sounds like stock governor springs to me. While it may rev to 3k in park or under no load, it isnt fueing past 2400 or so. A 3k GSK will fix your "problem" for $125.

Thats right gov spring would definately solve the 2200 rpm problem.

2250 rpm's, is that driving or in neutral/park?

I'd check to make sure the throttle is moving all the way too.

Smile Re: Throttle

I do think the linkage may need a little adjusting ... the 2250 is when I'm in drive 3 and just mash the pedal ...it gose like a rocket compaired to my 01 powerstroke ...I am very happy with the truck .

I did some reading and from what I did read 2400 is about normal for stock govenor spings ... and thats fine with me .

I will check my pedal adjustments today and go from there .

Thanks Guys

Oh

if u get that GSK

Ull wonder how u ever drove without it..... A 3K kit will fuel hard to about 3200 RPMS. A 4K kit is a lil more extreme and involves valve spring changes.

There are really no adjustments except the idle. If you mess with the linkage adjustment you'll screw things up. Some times the throttle cable will stretch and not give you full throttle, no adjustment, you'll need a new one.

Dodge had a recall on the throttle cable. If your truck has not had the work performed, call the dealer. It is recall #970. If you cable is stretched or frayed, this will make a difference. Mine was.

Re: cable

Thanks Baja... I called my dealer and they told me it was already done ...

I'm not sure where to go from there , I don't know if I can have someone depress the pedal with the motor not running and I will see if the throttle can go any more...

Thanks
