for the price, it's ok, but alone, it did not improve gas mileage, I don't think

i did get ~14.79 hauling a U-haul auto transport with a Miata from SC to Daytona

the wife will drive it this week, she'll do the speed limit (or less so we'll what MPG it get's without a lead foot.

yeah looks nice, makes me laugh a bit when you see a manufacturers idea of blocking hot underhood air from the inlet. shielding is one thing but yikes that thing is 75% open to the warm underhood air. c'mon for the money payed they should do a much better job, all it takes is a little more time and they develop a fitting base to the filterchamber and edges. Then they turn the dimensions over to the fab machine and it turns them out day in and day out without any difference in speed. I had a kn on my gasser and was somewhat disapointed in it's fit as well. btw gasser is in my classified's

hit K&N's website, get the part #, then go to GOOGLE and search, I found it for $240 plus $13 shipping at some off-brand shop.

called JEG's, and they price matched, and shipped for $9.

less than $250, all good.
and no fear when dealing with JEGS instead of them fly-by-nite places, but they did take forever to decide if they could price match.

Looks nice but I thought all the tests showed the K&N let the most dirt in of any aftermarket air filter?

Yup, your right. I probably would have spent a bit more and got the AFE after reading the tests. But, to each your own. -Steve

That airbox does about as much as ***** on a bull. I have had bad luck with K&N products, the drop in on my rockcrawler let in a lot of dirt and the FPIK on my Tundra made it run worse, lot of flat spots and put codes in the engine computer, also some of the oil got on the MAF sensor wire an burned it out. Luckly my neighbor is a Yota tech and he had one at home!!! I put the AIRAID system, so far so good.Did an 100 MPH trip today and the overhead said 19 MPG, no load, cruise control, 68 MPH.

yeah, but you would still be stuck with the restrictive stock tube from the Airbox to the turbo inlet, and AFE wants a fortune for that.

just easier, buy it all at once.

as for dirt, it prolly does, but
what size/magnitude is harmful versus what is detectable in the oil, and
when is too much filtration too restrictive ?

agree with CTDinMT....i wanted to replace the whole setup from the turbo up,
and I wanted it all with one call....

this fits my .02 worth....

yeah, i think the IAT should be in the air stream, and be cooled by the flow, and i bet the computer compensates for that.

it seems K&N would have at least mounted it on the other side, so the air coming in under the hood (thru the grill) could possibly flow thru the filter.

oh well. wife likes the turbo whistle, and I like her SS convertible....
think i got me a new car!

FWIW: In all the local speed shops around here I've been told that the K&N gives the greatest power increase. Maybe 2-3HP more.
