Fuel tank readings
I have been noticing as of late that when I have been going to fill up that I appear to have a lot more fuel in the tank than what my guage is telling me. Case in point is the last fill I was showing 1/8th of a tank, but when fueling I was only able to get in 27 gallons out of a 34 gallon tank. My computer do-hickey stated that I was 67 miles away from empty, when I have been averaging 19mpg the remaining fuel should have provided at least another 120 miles.
Anyone else having the same thing happening?

And take note of this statement.
Injector pump is cooled and lubricated by fuel.
Run the tank too low and the fuel is surprisingly hot, therefore not able to cool as good as it should.
7-10 gallon reserve is built in.
You do not want to run a diesel out of fuel, fun times ahead to get it started afterward.

Just had this same issue to address today. Wasn't sure I was going to make it to the service station, so I read the manual. It says, when the DTE is at 0 and the fuel gauge is on E, you have 10 percent fuel remaining.

[/quote]I understand that these fuel pumps are self priming.....not requiring a trip too the dealer......but I STILL would want too run a diesel out of fuel

Mine does the exact same thing, and personally I'm glad it's like that. I DO NOT want to have to try to start it after it has run out of fuel. Like my Dad told me a long time ago. They run just as good on the top half of the tank as they do on the bottom. 
I tend to take the whole fuel guage thing with a grain of salt, and use the Odometer anyway.
