Fuel solinoid

Help, still looking for majical answer on why fuel soliniod only works some of the time. It seams the times it doesnt work are in the fast food and bank teller lines.I finally broke down and spent the $289 for the new solinoid. Only, fo find out a week later that I still had same problem(spuratic starting) just not as often.I have cleaned all battery and terminal ends, replaced batterys and checked relays on fenderwell fuse box. Whats next for this 96 2500?. Could it be something in the starter?

I'm having the same problem with my 95 as you. I have a relay and solenoid on order hoping this will cure it. I have already replaced the starter contacts but this didn't help.It sure is tempting to put a cable on it.

Starter contacts are a common item to go., they can cause your $280 dollar Fuel Solenoid to fry. When the ones in my 95 went it wouldent start typically unless you tried several times.Check out www.fostertruck.com . Its a must do,and easy.

Another problem point is the relay for the solenoid in the wiring harness just above the brake booster. There is a larger 50 amp relay that sometimes gets flakey with age.

You can get that $280 solenoid at Piers for $149 just as I did.

But most of the time it won't cure your problems. Unless the solenoid is visibly burnt up on the outside it's probably fine.
