Fuel return line

Can anyone explain why a leak anywhere in the return fuel line could cause a hard start condition? I'm stumped on this one.

Best regards,

I understand that it is a pressurized system. Thus, a leak anywhere in that system could result in a loss of prime.

Hey Rich,

Thanks for the reply. Here is some more info on my problem in case someone has a fix. I rigged up a remote 3 gallon diesel supply tank to isolate my fuel delivery system because of a hard start loss of prime issue. After letting the vehicle sit overnight all of the fuel in the remote tank was gone. I am assuming it went out the fuel return line. This condition cannot be normal, otherwise you would always lose prime and experience a hard start. Do you know if the return fuel line has a check valve in it.

Mike
