I currently have my edge comp setting on 5x5 setting and dont have fuel pressure gauage. I plan on mounting a holly blue eletric fuel pump on the inside of my framerail. I have the in take pump right now, how will the holly pump keep my pressure up pumping secondary to my in take pump? is this a good idea? i just feel safe running 2 transfer pumps is this method going to work?

I'm running just a holley blue on the frame and I'm seeing 15 at idle and 11 at WOT with a comp and 100hp injectors. Been running that way for 2 years with no problems. I'm not a big fan of running two pumps. Cause if one fails the other one is going to struggle to push or pull the fuel through the dead one and that's just a recipe for disaster.

So, the pump i really like is a carter black which has a max psi of 18, will it pull that fuel ok through my in take pump (both pumping). what will be pro's and con's of both working at same time at idle and WOT? is there any harm having high idle fuel pressure? and what would be considered high idel fuel pressure, because it says 18 psi max?

I've never seen more than 10psi out of the intank pump so it will starve any pump in front of it. I don't know if fuel will pass through it if it's disabled but I wouldn't recommend that either. To do it right you need to either bypass the in tank pump or put a second fuel pick up in the tank and run them in parallel.

EDIT: The return valve on the VP will open at 14psi so any more than that is sent back to the tank. I wouldn't put any more than 25psi to the VP.

I have the holley blue alone and it seems to have two moods. In a good mood, it has 16 at idle and 13 wot. In a bad mood it has 13 at idle and 11 wot. Don't know why it swings.

I'm with BigBlue on this one. I was running 2 carters at one time and when the lift pump on the motor went south or vise verca the other pump couldn't handle the load of having to push or pull the fuel through the dead pump. Then you just end up with a truck that won't run worth a **** and possibly 2 dead pumps. Not good. I have the Vulcan Big Line Kit with the stock Carter located on the frame and I see 14psi at idle and 7 at WOT. It's an excellent mod.

My dad added a Carter P4600 8psi pump in inline with his in-tank pump and during installation, actually ran the Carter withOUT the in-tank pump powered up. He was able to pull fuel thru it just fine. YMMV.

His total pressure when both are running is around 15+ at idle and it drops to 10-11 towing. This is without a box or injectors... pure stock. He is running 3/8" line from the tank (in-tank pump) to the Carter and back out to the FF. Only banjo bolts being used now are between the FF and the VP.
