fuel pressure guage
I know i have seen threads on this before, but is there a way to install a fuel pressure guage on a 04.5 without the replacement filter cap. If not where is the best place to get one?Thank you

Hi I was asking that same question a few months ago on the TDR site. I elected to go with the replacement fuel filter cap and I am more than happy with that setup. But others have gone the banjo bolt route and if you have a look at the TDR site there is more info on that setup.

The individual tapped banjo bolt, part # BF-LT, that Geno's Garage sells for the 98 thru 02 trucks do in fact fit the 3rd Gens just fine. All years use the same size banjos. These allow you to put a gauge right on the CP3. I used one on my 03 for a while. Make sure you get 2 new gaskets from them as well if you go this route, part # BF-39351.
I don't see many people doing it this way, but there is a short piece of soft hose that connects the two hard line sections going from the filter canister to the CP3 (ok…that didn’t make sense at all). You can cut this hose in the middle and insert a 1/4" "T" fitting and attach your gauge pick-up there. This is the quickest and easiest way I have found, costs about a $1.50 at your local hardware store, and it will be post filter yet not directly on the CP3 where it will be vibrated to death like a tapped banjo. If you ever want to take your gauge out, you just replace this 6" piece of 1/4" hose that you cut and your done. I like this approach the best for an easy post filter pick-up. I'll try to attach a pic so you can see what I'm talking about.

AK, did you lose your fuel pressure gauge from vibration? I have had zero vibration from my tapped fitting at the CP3 but I have been in trucks that have the nasty vibration.
I'm not using a needle valve either but I am putting one in this wknd just for safety.
I have had a few folks get ahold of me and replace the banjo's and fuel line from the filter housing to the CP3 with my adapters and fittings, so far no failures with them either.
I wonder what causes some gauges to rattle/fail and some not? I first thought that using braided hose was the culprit, but not so. I have also seen guages with isolators fail too.

Hey Scotty.... I haven't had any problems myself. I used the tapped banjo on the CP3 for a while with a snubber valve in the line just before my sending unit. Now I have a soft line from the FASS straight into the CP3 with a "T" fitting about a foot in front of the CP3, 18" of hose from the "T" into a snubber valve into my electronic sending unit. Been doing this for years and never a problem, but it is all precautionary as I too have heard of the problems caused by vibration and fuel pulses from the pumps.

Fuel Press ?
Hey AK, If you splice in the fuel press the way you did it (no isolator i assume - fuel into cab) what other parts do you need other than the 1/4 Tee and Di-Pricol fuel guage (0-30psi) ? I see you have a braided line and such. Where can i get the other parts needed.

Not sure Lucie. Sorry, but that is not my truck in the photo. That belongs to a friend I used just to show an example. I have run nothing but digital gauges as well, so I can't really say with hooking up a mechanical Di-Pricol. I purchase my braided lines made to length from an industrial tractor supply shop in town here. I'm sure someone will chime in with the info you need.
