Fuel pressure gauge bouncing?

My truck came with a mechanical FP gauge (0-100 PSI) that was disconnected when I bought it. The guy said it was because the noise drove him up the wall. I hooiked it back up today while poking around, and it bounces whildly (almost to each injector firing) from 5-40 psi, I can't really tell it moves so much. I spliced it in between the lift and injection pump.
It's not a water filled gauge, did I mount it in the wrong place or is it the gauge?

Without a needle valve or "snubber" of some sort you are likely to see movement (and possible, eventual gauge damage).

Run it with the needle valve barely cracked open.

Needle valve installed at head of line to the gauge

At the risk of sounding dum, I was unable to find a needle valve. I tried napa first: no listing for that number.

I checked home depot and they didn't have any. Also went to advane. Any suggestions?

Huh. We have two NAPA's here, both of them pulled the part right away for me.

I sold a few fancy ones here a while back, had a **** on top instead of the bar, and a lock (stop) nut too.

I don't think I have any others, but I'll check.

I checked the part number on napa's website and it came back empty
http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage...PartNum=WH6820

I'll call again to confirm....

Well, asking by part number and not needle valve, they can get it. However, they don't have one at any of the local branches, so they'd have to order it. They can't order one, though. Only 5@7.25 each.
