Fuel Plunger leaking

Fuel Plunger leaking
can i just replace the white plastic part(the plunger) or do i have to buy the whole unit? also the reason I figured this out that it is leaking is the truck just lost its prime over night one night, I primed it and it started and ran great, the next day would not start again, so i was looking around and if I push the plunger in fuel squirts out, does it make sence that is why im losing prime.

Do you mean the plunger on the lift pump???? This thing, http://www.pensacoladiesel.com/index...oduct_id=30102
I had the same problem with mine, when I would push in the primer it would spray fuel out everywhere. I bought a replacement pump from pensacola diesel and its been fine ever since. If thats what it is you can get one from a case tractor dealer for a little cheaper if theres one close to you, they used a cummins in some tractors, cant tell you which ones right off hand though. Dont know if thats your problem or not but good luck with it.

I just put a new lift pump in since mine had over 219k miles on it. Figured if it would save my inj pump down the line it was worth it, and WAY better cold starts!!! after replacing my starter, alt, batteries, battery cables, relay's and a few other gadgets I finally found the problem with my cold starts!!!
Hope it helps

Both, since I had it apart, why not. I was pulling air and since that area was wet, I took it apart and found a nick in one O ring. I don't know if it helped with the air as I did a bunch of other work at the same time, but it did stop the wetness.

Don't repair the O-ring. A worn pump can leak fuel into the crankcase too.
These 12v valve lift pumps are only about $80 bucks from Cummins. Don't be cheap.
p/n 4988747
and the two gaskets 3939258
just like NMCTD mentioned
