Has anyone ever replaced the pick-up tubes in the fuel tank???? I replaced the lines last night and low and behold, when I put pressure on the system, the suction tube has a crack in it right at the bend, and is very rusty. With that being said I call this morning, am told it is dealer only, must replace complete module $312.00. Does this sound correct????

If you want to save some money give J-B Weld a try.

When I get a chance, I'm putting one of these in each truck! Replaces the factory pickup tube, and I can run 1/2" hydraulic hose all the way to the lift pump...I get it cheap

Be careful Chris, most hydraulic hose is not compatible with diesel fuel.

What's the difference between hydraulic oil, and diesel fuel?? I sould think if it will hold high preesure oil, it would handle low pressure fuel?

I used 3/8 on the supply side and 5/16 on return side. Diesel rated marine hose. NAPA has the quick connect adapters that go right on tank tubes. Needed to change the fitting on lift pump, because I am no longer useing the heater/pre-filter. If you pop the d.s. inner fender out makes it pretty easy. I ran the hoses down the frame and tied them off on the original steel lines. If you have an extra fuel cap, drill it and set it up with a regulator so you can prime the fuel system with 10psi max, losen the the bleeder on top of filter. Makes the re-priming much easier. (THANX Bill / Infidel ) !!!!!!!

Also...should I keep the fuel heater?? I can't see it being a problem here in Ohio...we are in the 20's most of the winter, and our fuel is treated!

Just ordered one of those draw straws and the hose in the tank is nylon, diesel safe. Thanks for the link.

Diesel fuel is incompatible with a lot more materials than oils or gasoline. I've seen diesel melt a lot of materials that I thought would be fine. I'm sure there is a chemical reason for it but it beats me.
Here's a compatability chart for o-rings and diesel that may help. You'll have to find out what the hydraulic hose is made out of first.
