Fuel Gauge Inacurate

HI All,

My fuel tank reads empty and when I fill up it only takes 80 litres. The book shows the tank capacity at 132 litres?

Is this common problem?

Thanks in Advance

Cheers

It's normal. Most of these trucks read empty with 7 to 10 gallons left in them, your 50 liters is right in there.
I feel DC did this for two reasons, so numb skulls like us don't run out of fuel but more importantly because fuel in the tank acts as a heat sink to keep it cool. Fuel returning from the injection pump and injectors can easily reach 190°F. Cooler fuel means a cooler injection pump and longer life.

When I read 1/8 tank my get some fuel light comes on and it takes about 25 gals to fill er up. Posts I have read say that this is by design as it is a pain to prime and get an out of fuel CTD running again

dont know what to say, they almost all go bad after awhile, i have had a gas dodge V8 and fuel tank read empty, traded it in for a CTD and have the same prob. my friend has a V10 and it does it to him. i think if you do a search you should find how to fix it yourself for under $100. when I have time one weekend i might fix it.

When the wifes truck's fuel light comes on she has four gallons left. She drives a 98. Mine hasen't worked in 5 years. I'll change it some day.
