Fuel draining back into tank over time...?

Currently I am driving a small car to work most of the time, so my truck sits for up to two weeks at a time between operation. This last time, and once before, the engine started right up, then within ten seconds began running as if fuel-starved. In the past, holding the pedal down slightly to keep rpm's at 800 or so gets it through the rough spot. Not so anymore. I probably should have taken time to prime the system with the bulb on the fuel filter.

Instead, after two lengthy cranks, the engine was finally back up running, plenty of smoke to go along with it.

Could I have a small air leak - and would you have any ideas as to a most-likey place? Thanks for the help.

The return fuel line is notorious for developing a leak in these trucks. You need to replace it with a high quality diesel rated fuel line. The rubber hose that came on it originally just turns to mush and splits open where it exits the IP.
