fuel from around my bell housing

Pulled up at work tonight and noticed a fuel smell. Started looking around and a small puddle of fuel looks like it was coming from my bell housing. I looked through the crack and the teeth on the starter ring look good but the outside is pretty wet. I looked all around but could not find any obvious leaks anywhere. LP looks very drry, fuel filter looks clean and dry but it is a little wet around the nr6 injector line.

Is it possible that it loosened up on me?? I just had the VP changed out in June, would the Cummins shop have removed this to replace the VP44?? I don't think it has been doing it long, and I let it sit and idle for about 10 minutes looking for the leak but never saw any more.

Any ideas would sure be welcome. I am gonna call Rocky Mountain Cummins in the AM and see what they say.

I had a loose injector line right after I bought my truck. The exact same thing was happening. It was cylinder 2 or 3 and the fuel was running back along side the valve cover and made its way down to drip off the bell housing. You could only see a few drips right after shutting the truck down. I tightened the line and all is well.

You should be able to see some wetness right where the line goes into the valve cover.

you also have return lines coming the back of the head and join in a T-fitting right over the housing.

What Bamadzl said. Check the #2 or #3 injector line at the nut where it enters the head. Tightening the nut may solve the problem.

A leak at the return line junction will run down the lines and drip off the driver's side underframe.

I've had both kinds of leaks.

I found Deisel all over the LH side of my bell housing, found it was the quick disconnect connection where the plastic line from the tank connects to the metal line that supplies the lift pump.
