O.K., this one is just for fun, and maybe a little actual useful info will come out of it. I want to discuss diesel alternatives that don't require any changes to the truck. I'll mention a few that I have heard of (urban legend stuff I guess) and i want to hear from people what you think and give suggestions of your own. This isn't the common WVO...this is truly odd alternatives. I thought this would be an interesting topic with our current fuel prices.

-Used motor oil. I have heard of people using it after running it through a filter. I doubt the effort is worth it, and I would think it wouldn't be healty for the injection pump because of the particles that could still get through the filtering process. Maybe they would all get caught in the truck's fuel filter.

-Home heating oil, Kerosene, etc. This one is easy since its basically the same stuff as diesel. Besides, this stuff costs nearly as much and most is illegal to use on the road anyway.

-Assorted other oil-based substances such as gear oil, transmission fluid, etc. It would need to be thinned down by diluting it with diesel, and I would think it would have the same problems as drain motor oil.

Suggestions? I know its a pretty silly subject, just having some fun here. I doubt too many people driving a $35,000+ truck would need to worry about paying for fuel, or would dare to try putting used motor oil in their tank...

I've been doing more of the DSE method with WVO & WMO. This has only been in batches of no more than 10gal. I haven't run into any problems related to wvo or wmo. The one from the website is more on what I want to add to my current filtering system, but have had the extra $ to do it.

I've been using refinery bio diesel [ 1/3 warm weather , 10% cold ] .
With the used motor oil , my guess would be that after being filtered , the particals would be ok , becouse the filter is sposed to get the particals down to the point that will flow through the fuel system , but besides that I think that the biggest problem would be the acids that can build up in the crank case .
Even at the refinners one of the biggest problems is PH [ acid / alkile ] .

Haven't done anything with alteritive fuel. The only alternative I have ever had is when I learnd that the "E" on the fuel gauge don't mean "enuff.[duhhh]
The alternative was get out and push.[dummy]
