Fuel 1.5%??
My truck is just approaching the 100,000 mark. Sent in my blackstone sample and everything came back excellent. They noted that my fuel dilution was 1.5% and told me it was probably from idling or not warming the truck up before taking the sample. When I took the sample and changed the oil I had just come back from a 5 hour drive pulling my horse trailer. I let it sit about 45 min before draining.
My question: This truck is also my daily driver and I work only 3 miles from home. So on the way to work it barely gets off the cold temp wise. On the way home it reaches full operating temp since its up hill. But I do drive the heck out of it on weekends and pull HEAVY. Blackstone says not to worry about it and I just wanted more opinions.
I take samples from my oil every other oil change so every 10,000 miles or so. All other samples were Less than .5% and a couple 1% in there over the last 99,000 miles. Should I just wait and take another sample at the next change to compare or ask my mechanic about it. Thanks!

Hmm, You may have injector starting to go. Keep an eye on it. It is very possible it was due to your short trips. Those do play havoc on your vehicle. Was this winter oil?

Talked to my mechanic. He does all diesels only. Owns and manages a huge shop here by me. He said not to worry and agreed with the short trips probably did it. And the oil was not totally winter oil but we have had a pretty cold spring and early summer. Lol
