Front tow hooks??

I've seen pics of a few trucks on this site with front tow hooks. Did they come stock or are they after market.

Thanks

Re:Front tow hooks??

You can also buy them from Dodge.

Requires removal of front bumper to install.

Re:Front tow hooks??

I bought mine from the dealer after I took delivery. They were not that expensive and quite easy to put on. The front bumper did NOT have to come off. Did the job by myself.

Re:Front tow hooks??

They are pretty expensive from Dodge.....Ive seen a lot of guys put a front reciever hitch on. It doesnt look quite as good as the hooks but is a little more functional.

Ive seen Dodge trucks with GM hooks. You can get them for pretty cheap from a wrecking yard. Also, you can check out heavy truck wrecking yards, they have good hooks for a reasonable price.

Tow hooks are a must on a 4X4...

Re:Front tow hooks??

Mexstan,

I also bought them after delivery, but have not put them on yet. Curious how you did yours. Did you install them without the reinforcing angle brackets that came with the hooks? After looking at the instructions that showed bumper removal, I was concerned about getting it back on, lined up, and looking right.

Thanks, Mitch

Re:Front tow hooks??

Just follow the directions exactly and you will be fine. Yes, I did use the reinforcing brackets. You MUST remove the top bolts on the intercooler because you have to move it forward to remove the bumper bolts. One bolt each side is a bit of a pain and I had to gently force (an oxymoron) the cooler forward to remove the bolt. Put the tow hook on, fought with that same bolt putting it in but the other three were easy. The reinforcing plate slips on easy but will only go on one way. Talk nicely to it. Seem to remember not pushing the bolts all the in to allow the bracket more room. No problem with lining up the bumper afterwards. Don't forget to replace the bolts on the intercooler. No, I did not forget mine, but it would be an easy thing to miss.
Hope this helps.

Re:Front tow hooks??

So...did you or did you not have to remove the bumper. First you say no...then you talk about aligning the bumper again. Make up your cotton pickin' mind.

Re:Front tow hooks??

Let me say this slooowwwly. Noooo ----- the---- bummper-------does------NOT, ------repeat NOT ------ have -----to -------be --------removed. There is a possibility it can move slightly due to the slop in the bolt holes but that's it. Just do one side at a time and no problema. Nothing stopping you removing the bumper if you want the extra work and have someone to help you, but it really serves no purpose to take it off.

I think he lost his Canadian accent when he moved "south of the border".

Re:Front tow hooks??

I've lived many years in three different cultures. Maybe it is the mix of all the languages I have been around that makes it hard for Hoss to understand when I said that the bumper did not have to be removed. Do I talk funny, or is it just you guys?
