I've been looking at doing this too. I can't stand that long chrome part under the bumper. The Sport model comes with it painted and that site you posted has them for ~$150 painted.

not sure what the part # is but you can find what your looking for by panning through the make, model, and year functions, then under the mechanical or body catalogs. the bumper of course being under the body catalog. just wondering it says bumper cover, does this mean it would go over the existing bumper on our trucks?

I'm a little confused about their terminology too. Can someone take a look at this diagram and tell us which part is the bottom half of the bumper that comes chrome on an SLT?

#13 the area around the fog lights and then the section between the fog lights (upper part). except the lower section in the middle of the fog lights is plastic. so you can't see much chrome in the center of the bumper. on top mine is painted plastic that sits on top of the bumper. hope this helps, hard to put in words.

Don't get your hope's up. The complete bumper will be way more than $150. That piece is "just" the plastic cover over the bumper. That does not include any other parts to put it onto your rig. A complete assembly will be way more than $150/200. I am sure some parts will swap but I am not sure how many and which.

I found out when I swapped the Laramie bumper on my '06 out with the SLT bumper it was cheaper to buy a take off than piece it together. That and the SLT bumper I bought was the same color as my truck so I saved on paint.

PM me if you are interested in a Laramie front bumper complete except for the fog lights.

Well technically speaking, if you already have a bumper on the truck and just wanted the cover, it should mount up shouldn't it. I don't see why you would need to buy bumper brackets if the bumper is already bolted onto the truck. the cover is just going over the exist. bumper.

That's not what I wanted to hear!

Does the Sport model still come with tow hooks as an option or is that part of the bumper different too?

I have to agree, I went from a 1500 std cab hemi sport to my Cummins. The front had too much chrome, so I went the cheaper of the two routes and added a sport grill. IMO it should be done like this at the factory. If they really wanted to look like the S2000 KW the would use a chrome grill and sport bumper. I picked up my grill on ebay used for $100, new @ the time they were like 300 someting. Nice part about it, only took 15 minutes to swap.
Just a diffrent option to look at
