Front Driveshaft Bolts

Hey guys - I pulled my front shaft out 2 days ago trying to track down a vibration, I installed it later that night and noticed today that two of the bolts backed out about 1/2 inch or so on their own. I know I tightened them all. Anyone had this problem before with a vibration and the bolts backing out. Figured that loctite should help but found this really strange. Thanks

I haven't had that problem,*yet*. I was thinking of doing the same thing since I have a vibration i'm trying to track down. Just curious, did taking the drive shaft off help you pinpoint the source of the vibration?

i haven't had the issue with the driveline bolts backing out, but when i removed the front driveshaft from my truck to trouble shoot a vibration, it didn't eliminate it. the only way the vibration(very small but annouying) is not present is when i pull a trailer.

You didn,t mark the drive shaft mating flanges alignment prior to removal, did you? Did you replace the u-joints or not. That,s okay, this time use a paint stick or whatever and make a mark. Remove and rotate 180 degrees. Use a torque wrench ( 85 ft/lbs) front/rear and and assemble. Forget about loctite garbage I won't go there. Use a pick or wire wheel and clean all that crap off the bolts. Hold the shaft in your arms and hands and articulate the opposite u-joints 360 degrees. Must be smooth and effortless with no binding or slop. Notice the little band of steel tacked welded to the shaft, balancer weight, like a wheel rim. Usually a vibration felt in the steering wheel is related to wheel balance. If you feel it in your butt then check drive shafts, u-joints.

When I took the driveshaft out all my vibrations were gone. This was the case even with 285's on the truck. Added the 37's and it seems all good, add the frontshaft and have vibrations. N. Johnson - the shaft seems to rotate with no problem and seems like the u-joints in it are okay according to a driveline shop. I did notice the weight on it as well. I will try taking and rotating the shaft and seeing what happens there. Driveline shop said that the shaft could be lengthened by 1/2" maybe, but didn't think that would help the vibration. Most shops tell me that they don't have any problems with Rize and their lifts causing vibrations. Getting frustrating!

yes, i clocked the drive shaft prior to removing it. thx for that bit of info.
all the joints were is very good condition. no play, roughness or binding.
while i had it out, i shot some lube in the cardan joint(?).
my trk has 63K on the clock now. not sure if u-joints are needed at this time.
