I have an 02 2500 4X4 and noticed today the CV joints are clicking when in 4 wheel drive. Is it possible to change just the joints themselves or do I have to buy the whole hub assembly like on the newer models? I hope not the latter as I think they are $500 bucks each.

If your talking about your axle u-joints need to pull ball, hubs to get to them,
I have that project my self to do soon before summer ends. good Idea when you take apart everything to check you hubs with that many miles on them put alot of anti-seaze on them, doesn't matter hubs are a Pain in the rear.
I bought my hubs from Oriely's and the price was 230ish last year axle u-joints I got at my local napa as well as the ball joints. caution on the dust cover watch out when you take attempt to remove hub assy, the cover can get mangled dont ask how I know.

not sure If I'm understanding what your thinking, but the axle u-joints are not part of the hub assy,

well I was looking for parts online and the only referance I could get for the CV listed the hub assembly so I thought maybe you could nut actually buy CV's and had to buy the whole assembly like on alot of the newer stuff. For instance you can't buy wheel bearings anymore you have to buy the bearing assembly.

cv joint generally refers to independant susupension. www.rockauto.com under dodge for 3/4 and 1ton. search drive-train list of all u-joints pertaining the truck. but your local napa or etc, should have these.

If its your axle joints "CV" . They would be donig it all the time as they are always turning. Not just when in 4x4.

Not entirely true. They do turn all the time, but usually worn out u-joints only make themselves known when in 4WD, when a load/bind gets placed on them.
Mine worked that way.
