front coil spring change out?
Hello, my coil springs are so bad my tires rub when turning. So I'm going to tackle a change. I bought a set of 7226s springs and have a few ?s I'm going to follow the post on here on how to do it. So what size pickle fork is needed for the lower ball joint? Also are the lower ball joints a press in or screw in ball joint? (just in case I screw one up) Also do the 7226s springs have a right or left side? Or a top or bottom? Or do they go in any direction? Thanks for your help.

I used a Craftsman pickle fork set (930308, i think) and used the largest fork in that set for the lower ball joints. The lower ball joints are press in, the uppers are screw in. I used a C-clamp type press to install the new joints, but it was a little small for the job - better to remove the control arm and use a floor press if you can. I have no experience with 7226s springs, only standard springs. The standard springs are not left or right handed; they do have a top and bottom. The end of the coil on the bottom of the standard springs fit into a pocket in the lower control arm. New springs ride high for a month until they settle down.
Be safe when changing springs: there is a lot of energy stored in them!
And don't forget to check the sticky. There is a writeup in there on 2wd suspension repair under the "Steering and Suspension" section.
