Front air ride on 2wd ideas...will it work??....

Ok, here's what I'm thinking...I've seen those air bags that you can put inside of the coil springs....only levels it about 1000# is what I've seen...I'm just wondering how it'll hold up to the weight of the front end of my 06, it's a 2wd....??? Anyone know how they handle and ride? I think they're firestones or air lift...not sure.

Or what I'm thinking is take out the coil springs and installing some airbags in their place. Still using the shocks, will this work?...or do you think it wont be as stable as the coil springs...I mean I know the coils dont hold the frame and that whole suspension together they kinda set there, but I'm just checkin.

One more thing, I have bags on the rear of my truck and am looking at lowering the rear of the truck, just taking those spacers out from under the leaf springs. I've seen it done and just putting those spacers on the top to use the same u-bolts and all....but wouldn't you want to put the spacers inbetween the overload leafs and the other leafs to keep the overloads kinda in the same position as they were before?? And because I have the bags installed in the rear already is is still ok to go ahead and lower the rear?

Were they the ones that go inside the coils, or did you replace the coils....if you can find out how he likes the ride and feel I'd appreciate it!..thanks!

he loves the ride. It was on a dually and he hauls a 11 foot slide in camper. We did a complete lorenz suspension and the firestone front bags along with 5100 bilstein shocks. They are the ones that go inside the spring.

Doesn't the shocks on the 2wd's go inside the coil springs? So either way you go I guess you're going to have relocate the shocks.

Yes the shocks do go inside the coils. I also found out that I can't take out spacers under the rear leaf springs cause....the 06 2wd....doesn't have any! lol....never knew it...oh well I'm trying to fab my own true air ride in the rear anyway. I'm not too sure if replacing the front coils with bags would do anything cause it may rub on some things....but I think if I find the right type and size it may work...I need to find a place that has many styles and sizes of bags. Not sure when I'll be able to start any metal fabbing, cause I'm in the process of putting up a shop right now from the ground up. But will def do this.

Anyone have pics of a stand alone air ride system in the rear?....or front? Want to see how they're mounted and all....I haul really heavy loads so I want to really be sure that axle stays in place lol. Thanks!
