Freeze frame data ?

Freeze frame data ?
My question got lost in the arguing over in the thread I put it in. So here it goes all by itself.
The statement was made that DODGE is requiring freeze frame dato of the RPM, Boost, and fuel usage at the time the code was set.
MY question is:
How will the freeze frame data be accurate if a chip or programmer was installed at the time a code was set?
The chips job is to FOOL the computer to get the power output we want from the truck. I can kinda see where the freeze frame data might be seen from a programmer with the actual boost and fuel usage because a programmer in theory could just rewrite the flagging system on the truck but still allow it to read the actual parameters at the time.

I understand what your service manager is saying, but my question is how can that info be accurate with a chip installed? Unless, like you mentioned a 2nd cpu somewhere recording this info

I'm no expert, but I think I understand what you are saying. If a code has been set, then something happened outside the normal parameters of the ECM. The freeze frame data will show that anomoly.
I think that DC can only use that data to hypothetically say that the code has been set because of the use of a box/programmer. They are using the laws of probability to make that determination. They are looking at all the data that the freeze frame provides to make an "educated guess".
Like you said, the ECM is receiving false data from a box/programmer to make it think it is operating under normal parameters even though it is not, but if a code comes up, then it will record the abnormal occurence.

Dumb question then about freeze frame, why not erase it(code)? Will it not remove the freeze frame, or is it kept as a log? Maybe thats why the service manager said not to erase the code and if I did it could void my warranty.

79warlock, true but if you are bombing, it will be a give dead give away, so I clear em took the box off and tried to get the same code to reproduce at stock and 9 times out of ten it would not. But since using the Diablo, not one code ever, so kinda mute for me now.

If the code doesn't come back under the same driving conditions with the box off, it's likely related to the box. I can understand clearing codes in that situation. The problem comes in if there is an intermittent code that pops up that is not related to your modifications. You may only be able to reproduce it once a week, etc.

I have the same question. Anyone know for sure if the FF data is erased when a code is cleared?
