Free mods for 02' CTD auto?

Free mods for 02' CTD auto?
My uncle has an 02' ext cab 4x4 with the auto trans and I was just wondering what free mods there are. I should be taking leave here pretty soon and going back home and think it would be fun to tinker with.
First off, he is in his early 70's and one of the first drag boat racers/ stunt skiers(he never knew how to swim either.LOL) so he likes speed still. The only thing he EVER tows is a 24' Four Winns boat about 100yrds to the water. Most of the time this thing sits under the carport, or is just driven around the resort.
What I'm looking for is quicker acceleration, more power, and maybe a little better milage.

About all you could do for free is toss the silencer ring.For a little cash,get a BHAF and then straight pipe it.That will have it sounding better and give a little bit more power.Other than that you pretty much have to pay for power.

Well that sux. Are first gen VE's the only ones you can double the power with free mods?

edge ez seems like the most common chip,nice boost in pewrformance and milage gains,ive read with an automatic and edge ez and rv 275 injectors and a light foot you can get some pretty impresive milage numbers.

Most guys here have not had best bang for the buck with the programmable units.
